Subject: English | Love | Fun | South African School of English - Study English in Cape Town A BIG THANK YOU!!

Hi there,

I've arrived safely and fortunately my fathers getting better from day to day.
I just wanted to thank you all again for your support during my 'emergency case' and sudden departure.
Special thanks to Hee Jung for spending hours on the phone/ web and to Bruce for his patience.

Best regards to Cape Town,
Take care,
Heike

Dear Stevin,
It has been now five weeks since I left SASE on the 12.3.2010.

I stayed with you for 2 weeks and I have to say that this was the best experience I have had for a long time!

I would like to say thank you to all of you!

Especially thanks to Georgia and Cyrilene, I enjoyed their classes a lot! Please tell them!
I saw that you are a hard working man who puts enthusiasm in the school to guaranty the best results for the students. This is not common today. Although struggleing with local problems (e.g. power outages or Gemans who keeps you always busy J) you never give up.

I appreciate this and can tell that this makes you different to other schools.

Stay on this tracks (or do even better if this is possible) and bring other people close to this wonderful language and the spirit of Africa.

After being with you Bianca (my wife) and I had a fantastic 2 weeks jouney to Johannesburg  by car where we came closer to nature an people. We discovered that Africa is fantastic and if you treat it with respect it will treat you with respect.

To support you a little bit with SASE and to bring other students closer to Africa I wrote a letter of recommendation to LISA!. It is attached to the mail. It is in German but I am sure someone will translate it in English for you all.

It is a pleasure for me writing this. Please broadcast this to all of you and feel free to post it to your webside under testimonial.

All the best and hope to see you all soon!

Jens
(takes you always busy)

The original letter mentioned above:

Hallo Frau Hecker,

Jens Herrnberger

Subject: Email for Stevin

Dear Stevin,

do you remember me? The german architect, who attended your school in
January/February 2009 and who sent you some sketches/drawings regarding the
floorplans of your school?

Hope you are fine. These days I´ve thought many times of my time in south
africe last year, as I attended another language-school last month - in New
Zealand. It was an LSI-school, mayby you know this organisation. But I have
to say, that your school is better-organised and more familiar. You help
your students to make frieds - for example your welcome-parties. Another
advantage of your school ist, that classes are very small. LSI-classes have
up to 14 students. Thats too much. Besides school in New Zealand didn´t
organise itself excursions like you did. The trips, I took part in Capetown
were awesome. I told all my friedns of it. That´s also the reason, why I
write you this email. Two of my best friends are in Sout Africa at the
moment (Safari, Garden Route and so on).  I told them of your fantastic
historical tour, including the township-tour and the south african dinner.
Do you offer this trip (or the township-tour as a part of it) by chance on
Friday next week? If so, please let me know, if it is possible, that my two
friends, even if they are not students of your school,
could take part on it? It would be nice, if you gave me an answer or even an
assurance. Thank you for that.

Have an nice weekend.
Please send Eugene and Gerry my regards,
Volker

Sara's message on 2009-07-19 09:33:37
Hey Stevin, how are you? I really hope you are fine and the school is running well! After all the time (I can´t believe it but its more than a year ago since my stay in Cape Town) I thought it would be great to stay in contact and in addition it may be interessting for you to get feedback from your former students ;-) My stay in your School and in this wonderful country awoke my interest in South Africa. Therefore i decided to write my bachelor thesis in Anthropology about a subject that is connected with SA ( I chose: The trace of the colonial past in the Diskurs about AIDS in postapartheid South Africa.) Because this subject is kind of specific and it isn\'t easy to find books in german, all my books are in english. So you see I still try to practice the language ;-) So, reading books about South Africa is what I am doing all day long at the moment and therefore I think a lot about the time in Cape Town and your School. I wanted to thank you and your school again for enabling (is this correct? It sounds strange) me to read more complicated books like this and to arouse my interest for your country. Hopfully I can come back to Cape Town \'cause I still miss it a lot! All the best, Sarah

Goetz Grossmann's message on 2008-06-11 23:39:42
Subject: Greetings from London Dear Stevin, I hope you are doing well! It is now exactly one year ago that I attended a four week English crash course at SASE and I still think back to the great time I had in South Africa almost every day. Only three months thereafter (July 2007) I successfully applied for a finance job with KPMG in London and I really believe that practicing my (spoken) English at your school and in this wonderful country, respectively, played a very important role for this success. Although attending a language school for four weeks might not be sufficient to become fluent in a foreign language, however, it definitely made me feel more relaxed and confident when dealing with any issues in English. Thus, I would like to say thank you once again today. You and all your staff did a really great job and what I was impressed by most was the enthusiasm you taught us with (not only as to the language but also regarding the history of your country). Keep on running your business as professionally as I can remember it and I am convinced that all your dreams you told us about will come true shortly! I wish you, your school and last but not least your fascinating country all the best! Kindest regards, Goetz

Thank you Steven for sharing your memorys with us and showing us such lovely places like Kirstenbosh and Cape Town at night. Emmi, thank you for the helpfull advises and the the time in your class! And Sophie thank you for banning the „I think“ and „nice“ words in class ;)! And finally Bruce, thanks for giving me a lift home. Sarah

Hello everyone, I am writing almost compulsorily, however it is a huge pleasant to do it. I passed here in South Africa and particularly in this school. I just would like to say thanks for everyone here who helped me to get better and helped me to improve my dirty poor English. There is nothing more reward than the feeling to have a home out of your country which you can have support whenever you need. Moreover, SASE assured that I had such a lovely time that I would like to stay longer and longer just to keep living this wonderful life style with these brothering people as Stevin, Kata, Bruce, Sophie and all the crew in this School. Thanks for everything I will always be glad.

Mohamed Diatta's message on 2007-12-07 19:56:55
Hi, my name is Mohamed,I learnt English at South African School of English(SASE). When I arrived in Cape Town I was not able to speak proper English and my aim was to take the TOEFL(test of English as a foreign language),I needed it to study at University...After a few months of preparation at SASE I took the TOEFL and the result was more than I was actually expecting,I had a very good score which allows me to study even in the United States. I would advise anybody who wants to learn English to try SASE,it is for me the best school in Cape Town because you will find there a very competent staff, and a very familiar atmosphere...I can not really describe the environment at SASE,it is AMAZING...you have to see for yourself,to experience it.The school offers a lot of services which include visiting most of the famous places in Cape Town. I can write an entire book to explain why you have to choose SASE...there are so many good reasons,if you do not live it you can not understand how it is. By the Way I want to thank SASE's staff for everything they have done for me.Thanks to the "Big Boss"!!!

Dear Steven, the relaunch of your website is incredibly good!!! I looked into my display screen and I had tires in my eyes. What a wonderful time. Whenever I speak about my time in South Africa at your School I light up and everything goes a bit easier. It is really a wonder that Philipp passed his exam with his huge amount of alcohol in his blood. Congratulations! Bruce – good work! One thing is clear – I will come back soon to my home away from home. Andrea

Dear SASE Staff. I was really pleased to receive an E-mail from Cape Town. As you heard, inspite of the big amount of beer and parties in your school, I passed the FCE ;-) and I'm very happy about that (big commendation to Bruce, it wasn't easy all the time ;-) Your new website is great, but unfortunately there's no swiss-flag in the top frame!!!! ;-) So I hope you can fit that. Finally I have to say, I miss the time in South Africa and will never forget this great experience and I hope perhaps I'll hear something from the other crazy students ;-) Greets Philipp
